JOOR Case Studies: Organizational Change
From 2019 through 2024, I led a transformative effort to fundamentally change JOOR from the inside. By independently building a Design Practice, driving usability improvements, and fostering a culture focused on experiential data, I was able to deliver measurable results and long-term organizational change.
From Chaos to Cohesion: Transforming Design Operations at JOOR
What happens when a design team operates without processes, research, or alignment? At JOOR, I tackled resistance, disjointed workflows, and organizational ambiguity to build a thriving DesignOps capability from the ground up.
Discover how I:
Streamlined tools and workflows to increase velocity and collaboration.
Built a scalable design system that empowered engineering and improved consistency.
Prioritized team well-being to support creativity and resilience under pressure.
This is the story of how intentional design operations can transform not just teams—but entire organizations.
Revolutionizing Fashion Wholesale: The Launch of JOOR Passport
As Product Design Director at JOOR, Inc., I led the design and launch of JOOR Passport, the company’s first virtual marketplace for fashion tradeshows. This transformative platform empowered global connectivity, automated workflows, and enhanced user experiences, resulting in a 124% increase in retailer-initiated orders and an 182% rise in logins, redefining wholesale operations during the pandemic.
Innovating at JOOR: The Opt-In/Opt-Out Tool
As Product Design Director at JOOR, Inc., I led the redesign of the global navigation system and developed the Opt-in/Opt-out Tool, transforming JOOR's beta testing approach. This user-centered solution reduced disruptions, improved sentiment, and streamlined feature rollouts.
JAY Z DECODED - Droga5 - 2010
I was the UX/UI Designer on this groundbreaking campaign; my job was to design the conceptual model, game logic, and user experience for bing.com/jay-z. Each day, several pages of the book were released (320 pages and the campaign was four weeks long) into the world. To show off Bing’s capabilities, their Maps and Search products were used as the game’s platform. Droga5’s copywriters wrote two clues for each page; then, the clues were shared via Twitter. The answers to these clues were always geographic; inputting your answers into the custom ‘Decoded’ Bing map would get you closer to the location of a page. Once you locate a page, a beacon will appear, marking the page’s location and whether or not you were the first to find it.
New York Magazine, Mashable, Creativity, and many other trade magazines covered the campaign.
There were 1.1B global media impressions.
11.7% increase in visits to Bing.com
3 Gold, 1 Silver One Show Pencils
2 Grand Prix, 3 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze Cannes Lions
2 D&D Yellow Pencils
Gold Clio Awards
other WORK - 2013
A collection of projects from consulting gigs.
operations consultant - verizon wireless - 2015
Verizon Wireless hired me to solve an interesting problem: “How do we transform our internal production team into an in-house agency?” They had a talented team of visual designers, UX & UI designers, copywriters, and project managers. They also had a record of outperforming the company’s agencies of record. There was a strong argument they were cheaper, faster, and better than the competition, but they weren’t yet operationally organized to start competing in earnest. They needed help creating a foundation, transitioning, and repositioning themselves while managing and executing their current workload.
