Rather than jumping to solutions that only address symptoms, the 5 Whys approach focuses on uncovering the cause-and-effect chain that led to the problem. The goal is to find practical fixes that stop the issue from reoccurring, not just quick fixes or limiting a team to the most obvious problem. An easy way to remember this process is by “Falling in love with the problem 5 times.”
